I think that all beer festivals should sell only obscure, rare and one-off ales. When there are hundreds of tasty real ales on sale why do they pander to people who drink tasteless lager ? As for the inclusion of foreign beers (excepting Scotland and Ireland of course!). These are not “proper” beer so why are they included?
Don’t get me started about those other drinks not made from the grain of the barley. Who would think of crushing apples and pears and leaving them to rot for several months then drinking the effluent that they produce!

What is wrong with drinking beers that appear once* only? It shows a certain amount of 'individualism' rather than following the herd down the "Mine's a pint of *******" where ******* - is the name of the most heavily advertised lager of the last two weeks.
* More correctly - That label/pump clip only appears once. The beer is brewed several times with very slightly differing ingredients and sold under a plethora of names!
Remember one of the aims of CAMRA is to convert people from drinking tasteless lager and one of the ways of doing that is to get them to a Beer Festival where they can hopefully taste and try Real Ales and become converts. Hating Lager drinkers will discourage them from becoming potential CAMRA members
I've got mates that wouldn't come if there weren't some lagers on offer. They invariably start buying real ale too.
I (shock!) like the odd pint of decent, cold continental lager too.
